Welcome to Mickleover Juniors FC

The Junior section, known as Mickleover Football Club Juniors, was formed in 1997. The club was previously known as Mickleover Sports Juniors until 2023. The high profile of Mickleover Sports Club and its close proximity to the populace of Derby demanded that it should have a thriving junior football section to meet local interest. We have boys and girls teams ranging from U7s through to U18s. The Junior section provides a safe, friendly environment for local children to be given the opportunity to be part of a successful club with emphasis placed on fair play, social skills, development and a love of football.

About us

Club History

Mickleover Sports Club, incorporating Mickleover Sports Football Club and Mickleover Sports Cricket Club, was formed in 1948. The Football Club played its football in the Derby & District Senior League for 44 years until major development of the grounds at Station Road coincided with their entry into the Central Midlands League. Recent seasons have seen further promotions to the Northern Premier League.

The Junior section, known as Mickleover Sports Juniors Football Club, was formed in 1997. The high profile of Mickleover Sports Club and its close proximity to the populace of Derby, demanded that it should have a thriving junior football section to meet local interest. With current teams ranging from U7s through to U18s the Junior section aims to provide a safe, friendly environment for local children to be given the opportunity to be part of a successful club with emphasis placed on fair play, social skills, development and a love of football.

Mickleover Sports Juniors Football Club had a name change in 2023 to Mickleover Football Club Juniors , in line with MFC but the club operates as a separate financial entity to the Senior Football section and is operated on a not-for-profit basis by volunteers to offer children coaching and competitive opportunities in football.

The club achieved FA Charter Standard status in April 2011 and is affiliated to the Derbyshire County FA. The FA Charter Standard Scheme which has been replaced by England Football Accredited, sets standards of coaching, administration and child safeguarding for all clubs outside the Premier League and Football League.

In 2015 the club were successful in bidding for the lease of a new 5 pitch facility at Varsity Grange in Mickleover. This facility provides the Juniors with a home ground and control of its own pitches. The first game at Varsity Grange took place on Sunday 1 November 2015.

The club continues to have a close connection with Mickleover Sports Club and Mickleover Football Club and the partnership ensures we are able to make full use of 3G facility for training and matches. There is also a development path to senior non-league football.

The club now has in excess of twenty teams from U7 to Open Age and are members of the – Midland Junior Premier League, Derby City Football League, Derby Junior League, Burton Junior League, Young Elizabethan League and Derbyshire Girls and Ladies League.
